Adjunct Faculty Info

Information specific to teaching a distance education course as an adjunct is provided on this page. Topics/Info that does not differ for adjuncts is covered on the primary Handbook pages related to those topics. We want your distance ed teaching experience to be a good one, so if you have suggestions for additions to the info provided here or on other pages, please contact Dr. Mary Englebert (englebertmf@appstate.edu).

Access to Library and Technology Resources. Access to many resources (especially electronic ones) is typically limted to active/currently employed faculty due to contractural and state auditing requirements. Employment status is set in Banner according to contract periods. For most adjuncts this means you will be able to access library and electronic resources from off-campus only during active contract periods. If you need access for preparation (or other purposes) before or between teaching semesters, ask your department chair to contact Academic Affairs to request that your Banner record be updated to show your status as"current/active."  As of 8/21/11 the person in Academic Affairs to contact is Darlene Risk.  Ms. Risk must have an official request from the dept. chair before she can act. The request must be made for each period of time during which you are not actively employed to teach as the system defaults to "inactive" when your contract period ends each semester.
