Faculty
In an effort to make your off-campus teaching experience a good one for both you and your students, the Office of Distance Education provides information abut the sites at which programs are located, the resources available to faculty, and instructions for various tasks in this web-based "Handbook." The handbook provides important information regarding teaching, student interaction, technical, and administrative support for faculty assigned to teach courses or to provide advising to students at Appalachian's approved extension/distance education sites.
Faculty are strongly encouraged to review this electronic version of the Faculty Handbook for Distance Education Teaching as soon as they receive their first off-campus teaching assignment. A link to the handbook will be provided in the faculty reminder/update email sent at the beginning of each semester. For the convenience of returning extension faculty corrections, additions, and revisions will be noted (see bulleted list below) each semester on the main Faculty Handbook for Distance Education Teaching webpage. Faculty members are encouraged to make suggestions, by email, for improvement, inclusion, or correction to the Director of Distance Education, Mary Englebert at englebertmf@appstate.edu.
